hooking heavy gauge wire to spring clips?

I'm talkin about these bad guys.


Is there any sort of adaptor or anything that will allow me to use, say, 16 gauge wire in these?

My sub box has those and they can accept 12g just fine.

-remove those and install somethign that can
-use banana clips
-cut off excess wire till the fit

It's actually on a HT reciever, so I can't just chop and wire stuff in.
