Im building a system for my sunfire..i am getting rid of the rear speakers compltly cause they always blow with my sub so....i bought 2 sets of alpine type r 6.5" compnents to fit in my front doors..now im wondering would i be able to get away with one set? or is there any other brands that might fill in the gap .....my system isnt too loud but will be able to easily atain 140 db so i need somethign that will play loud and clear over the bass...phil
Hi Phil,
Whatcha thinking about running for sub(s) amps? When I say amps, i also mean the amp to run the front speakers. I'll give ya a hint. I'm running 3600 rms to my subs now, and i'm running 150x2 to my front speakers, and it's not loud enough when it's wanging.
i got a fusion jonah lomu 4 channel for the front..its about 150rms x 4 and they are way underrated. As for the sub its a fusion jonah lomu 15" and is powered by a fusion jonah lomu 1211d mono block which is about 1200rms..guys with this setup on average hit in the 145-150 range according to the shop..phil
the only issue is the amp is a 4 chanel..i might just switch and run these for now both sets..ive had them before i love them....i can always sell the door panels and run one set..phil
sndsgood wrote:i'd try to run 1 set if i was you and just feed them allot of clean power. not sure what the ratings on the type r r but i'd maybe see about taking both sets back and buy and even higher quality set for up front. i alwasy say i'd rather have one top end piece versus two mediocre pieces.
What do you suggest then for a higher end thats going to be enough fill for that much bass? phil
One set of maybe focals or rainbows would suffice for ya.
I would run one 6.5 in the door and seal it off and use the door as a mid bass driver to better the front staging and run the other set in a kick panel and run one set of tweeters in the a-pilar to localize the staging.

most 4 channel amps can be bridged to be two channel so you now have twice as much power to play with.
doubt he could sell two componet sets and even come close to picking up a rainbow componet set lol.
if your really want more midbass you could do as deez suggest and go with a 3-way componet set. giving youa dedicated midbass driver, thats what im running right now. focal, dyanaudio,mb quart, zapco, morel are a few names u can check into.
