Ok, here's the thing...
I have a 4 channel amp hooked up in my car...
The tweeters are hooked up in the first 2 channels (front)...
And my 6x9s are hooked in channels 3 and 4 (rear)
when i set the 6x9s and tweeters to how i want them to sound:
For example, tweeters are set on HIGH and 6x9s are set to LOWs....
ON my radio the fade is set in the middle so u can hear all speakers.....
Now, when i turn the volume up, i get this popping noise from my 6x9s like they're distorted or sumthing... When i popped the trunk to look at the amp, This Green L.E.D was going off and the L.E.D is labeled CLIPPING......
What is CLIPPING??
But wen i messed with my pioneer radio and put the fade towards the rear, the popping noise stopped but i cant hardly hear anything in the front tho...
So can someone help me out, i never i had this problem b4 ever and all of the sudden this has come upon...
Im also hearing my engine through my speakers too... Cud it be because of my RCA's???? There by EFX.....
I gotta good ground so i know that cant be it..
for the engine noise, seperate the power wire and the RCA's....try shortening the ground, shouldn't be mroe than 18". The clipping could be the gains on the amp, or you may have crossed the polarity on the speakers and amp. Check all the connections, make sure wires aren't touching one another (positive and negative). Also try putting the 6x9's on the channels that run the tweeter's it could be channels of the amp.
Go Premium, it builds character!
Alsost for sure that it's your gains.
Clipping how I understood it was when you feed the amp too much of a signal and it can't accurately reproduce it and so if you imagine a wave of a music signal then it just tops off (clips the top off).
Look for a post on here about how to set your gains. Just search for it.

Read my sticky about clipping, and turn yer gains down!!!
Cavfire... Where the sticky
Ok... I already installed my RCA's on the opposite side of the power wire... But im still hearing the engine noise.. It started to do this when my RCA's accedently hit my Basscap, ever since then, ive been hearing the engine noise.. The engine noise goes through my Front, Rear, and Sub RCA cord. So that's why im guessing that the RCA's are trashed..
BUT back 2 the 6x9s the only way that i can not hear the clipping/ distortion is when i set the fade all the way 2 the rear.. BUt the bad thing is its isolating my front speakers and tweeters from being heard.
It seems that when it get warm outside i need to jus strip my audio and rerun and check everything.. This has never happened 2 me when i hooked up a system up for friend nor me and this is my 3rd system..

that's the shortened version.....basically right, your input signal is so high, your amp can't reproduce the whole signal, so it reproduces as much as it can and "clips" off the high ends of the notes, thus destroying the signal. if you want a more detailed answer, email me

that's what we've been trying to tell you.
alright.... Imma jus put everything to negative and try n tweak with it.... I suck at tweaking with my radio and a amp w/ interior speakers..
the sticky is at the top of page when you click any forum it says 'sticky' and theres 3 stickys in the audio section one is from lanman read it, you'll be glad you did...

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
I GOT IT!!! The speakers stop clipping... I can now turn my volume over 33 on my pioneer and no distortion.......
It took me about 15mins in the freezing cold chicago weather outside to tweak with it but i got it...
But i still got that engine noise problem tho... I didn't even have the car on and i can hear the piercing sound....
Could it be my RCA's gone bad??
I seperated the RCA's from the power cord and everything...
