Hey, I was just wondering if my Pioneer DEH-P3900MP headunit 50w x 4 would push my Infinity Kappa speakers decently. INFINITY KAPPA 692.7i 6x9" 2-WAY speakers and INFINITY KAPPA 462.7cfp 4" x 6" speakers both sizes in 2 ohm impedance. Thanks.
nope. you'll end up cooking your headunit. thansk for asking.
So I should get a 4-channel amp to push these? What wattage amplifier would you suggest?
Sorry im new to this but how would I go about connecting the speakers to my amplifier?
Alright, sorry I wasn't clear on that. Ive got the amp wiring down but when it comes to connecting the amp wires to the Kappas should I just cut the original wire that leads to the 4 speakers and reconnect them from the amp to the original plug that goes into the speakers?
Don't cut the factory wiring (unless you have no intention of reselling the car).
Run new wiring from the speakers to the amp. You can trail it along the factory wiring with no problems. The Kappas should have come with a length of wire as part of the purchase.
Okay, Thank you. So should I buy another adapter for the new wiring or just directly wrap the end wire from the amp to the connectors on the speakers?
If they didn't come with wiring and connectors, go to the autoparts store (or an audio store) and get insulated connectors (I believe that Kappas use blade terminals). You can crimp that on the new wiring and plug them to the speaker. Probably looking at $5-7 tops for connectors depending on whatever the smallest quantity you can get.
If they use a dual size terminal (one big one for power and one small one for ground) the smaller ones are harder to find and might have to get those from an audio shop.
The stock wiring goes to the HU, so you don't want to do anything with that or you risk frying it.
You know what else you can do? WIth your wiring kit for your head unit, you can run the wires from that to the amp. I did that before I ran all new everything to everything.
I already have an 800 watt California amp I know its not the best, but its 2-channel. Is there a way I could wire it to all 4 or would I lose my options for fading the speakers?
You can run them in series and that would be a 4 ohm load, if your amp is 1ohm stable, you can run them in parallel (to lower the risk of frying your components by overpowering, run them in series) The staging will be off however you decide to run them and you will either lose fade or balance, depending on how you run them.

explain to me your bright idea on how putting those speakers on his headunit would "fry" his headunit or are you just talking out of your a$$?
Unless the HU is 2ohm stable...

There is an increased chance of doing damage to the HU
Most HU's are only 4ohm stable.

Well, my bright idea out my ass is this; his speakers are 2 ohm each. His head unit is 4 ohm. Ever run a lower impedence on something that can't handle it? Either one of three things happen. One, the unit doesn't play it and goes into protect mode. Two, the head unit cooks, or three, it gets so damn hot it catches @!#$ on fire. Now read the original post before you open your mouth twinkletoes.
When you guys run new wires to speakers in doors how do you get the wires from the door to inside the car? Through that little black tube where all the other wires go?
