i don't think you'll have a problem unless the radio has the RDS crap in it. what year stereo are you putting in?

really, if you're going to go through the trouble, why not buy an aftermarket deck?

well the one I have now the cd player doesn't work. I don't want to bother with an aftermark unit. I have never been a big fan of detachable face cd players

RDS is a radio feature. Nothing to worry about.

You can swap in most GM head units, as long as they'll physically fit, up to around 99... there's nice ones in the Alero's and Malibu's... just make sure the plug on the back is the same, it should swap right over.

There is the "Theftlock" feature in the older radios (as opposed to the 2000+ decks which learn part of the VIN from your computer... another story tho... doesn't affect your car)... if the code has been set, there's ways to clear it easy enough... do a Google search for Theftlock and you'll find the instructions. They may even be in the Library FAQ here... (I can't remember)

the alero/ga/malibu one wouldn't be a plug n play, i tried my old alero radio in my g/f's cavi and no fit there. of course you could always hard wire it
