I gots a quick question for all you guys(and girls) its about figuring out cb. ft.?..as an example if I had a sealed box measuring 14" x 14" x 16" ...and wanted to figure out the cubic feet... would I multiply14x14x16 which equals 3136, then take that number and divide it by 1781? 3136 / 1781= 1.7 is that my cb.ft.? or is there a different better way? thanks in advance
Is that internal dimensions or external? You also have to take into consideration sub displacement as well.

There are 1728 cu in per cu ft. so (14*14*16)/1728 = 1.81 cu ft.
As stated above, if you want to be very accurate with your calculation, you should use the internal dimensions of the box and account for the volume that the sub occupies.
oh ok thanks and lanman I was just saying as an example those sizs thats not an actual box or anything just wondering how to calculate the cb. ft. but yeah thats another whole ball game with port size, displacement for the sub, bracing, internal measurments...etc
ok now that, that question is answered thank you, how big is the biggest box to fit in our trunks cb. ft. wise? NOTE: I have already cut ouff the triangle braces so I can fit a 36" wide box by 17" by I forget the depth as I have no upper rear seat in at the moment lol
I am running one 15" L7 at the moment off a orion 2500d and only hit a 142.8 in a crx style box 30" wide 16" high and 16" deep lol ...I just had it laying around and cut a square hole in it lol ...so its not the correct box size by no means but, I want to build a proper one but was told it will be very big to accomadate the 15" L7 am I gonna have the trunk space for it? My amplifiers and such are gonna be living in my back seat area so the whole trunk can be used for a box
The Jeffrey, without a back seat, has a 15x32x36 box in his trunk. 8.2 cubic feet.
the jeffrey? lol is that a member if so im gonna search, but if thats 15x32x36 it must stick out a bit past his rear deck, thank you
i'm doing an enclosure right now for a pair of L7 15's...11 cubes net. so count on probably 5-6 cubes net for your single.
