I searched but without any luck really. Its my first time installing a pioneer avic-d3 navigation system in my 00 cavalies and Im having problems. I read that the VSS wire was the green/white wire under the hood by the driver side strut tower. Since I only saw one there I connected it to that. Now I noticed driving around that the speed listed in the radio doesnt match the speedometer at all, and the navi unit really isnt giving my pin point location or even close for that matter.(Off by at least 4 blocks if not more, even at rest).. Is there another area where I can find the VSS wire or is it a different color? Or did I tap into the wrong green/white wire? Also if you have a pic of where you tapped into it could you posted thanks
I had a portable nav system and was having the same problem, we had to like reset it and do this location find thing on it to get it to finally figure out exactly where I was...try messing with the settings and see if you can find anything about location settings
are you sure it was a wire that goes into the transmission? The vss wiring, one is yellow and the other is purple.
I checked www.the12volt.com and it listed the VSS wire as being green/white on a 00. And when i looked on here I also read green/white. I heard it was purple too but i thought purple was for 95-99 cavs only... Im going to try to reset the system today see if that works.
mine is a 2K and when I did the VSS mod they were purple and yellow. Thats also on a stick shift tho. I would imagine it would have listed the differences tho. You sure you didn't hook it up to the reverse lights? Or something else? IDK, the only thing I see as green with white is the fuel pump relay.
visit the NY jbodies site they used to have PCM pinouts there that should tell you exactly which wire it is

Its ok I figured it out the Avic D3 needs to be driven non stop on the highway for 20 mins so it can calibrate itself... I figured it out on my way to Brooklyn this morning lol.. VSS is green/white
vss is yellow and purple in any cavy ive worked on..
Rodimus, the NY j-bodies site has been down for several months now.
A shame too, they had some excellent tips and info.

I have a 2002 sunfire, tapped into the same green white wire and I got nothing from it. then I found a larger gauged purple wire with a white line in it , and a yellow wire with a white line in it. these wires were running side by side just above my clutch pedal. I tapped into the purple one and still got aboslutely nothing from it. Any ideas.
