Ideas for tweeter locations

I started to install new front speakers last weekend (phoenix gold xenon component 5.25") and I made up an MDF bracket to house to woofer where the stock 4x6's used to be but there wasnt really room for the tweeter its got a pretty deep mounting depth to it id say about 3 inches or so, anyways im looking for ideas on where to put them im going for sound quality here but kickpanels and the lower door is pretty much ruled out here, the crossover for these speakers has an A-pillar setting for mounting them higher in the car. So does anyone have any pics of good clean looking installs of tweeters in thier cavs or fires? i was thinking maybe the triangle piece where the mirror adjust is what does it look like without power mirrors? thanks for your help

surface mount on the dash by the pillars is a good idea,
also, putting them flush mounted just forward of your door handles is where mine are.

but realy, get some 2 sieded tape, or roll up some duct tape and move em around while hooked up and see what SOUNDS best to you,. and mount them where they sound best.
everyones ears will be different, and you might not like them somewhere i do, and you might like them somewhere i think is rediculous.

typically closest to the midrange as possible will yield the best sq results.

has anyone ever mounted them in that part of the dash that usually cracks on our cars? in the corners, similar to a neon....or does anyone who has removed thier entire dashboard know if there is room underneath that front pad to house them ?

not always nate. bringing the highs up... higher will drag the soundstage up with them. you need to remember, although frequency seperation may be your concern(although i doubt it will be as noticeable as you would think), the higher the frequency, the more directional(reason why subs can be in the trunk)... so keeping the mids in the stock location and mounting the tweet higher shouldnt be an issue in most cases... but like i said before, test out some locations

I put mine just forward of the mid-bass, angled towards the driver. This places them just about as far from the listener as possible without using the kick panels or placing the tweeters too far from the mid-basses.

The imaging is very good with this setup and is about the same as the Q-Logic Q-Forms that I've heard in Cavaliers. I generally prefer the overall sound quality that you get from keeping the tweeters close to the mid-bass. Mounting the tweeters higher up can sometimes raise the soundstage, but there are trade-offs in terms of instrument cohesiveness and imaging accuracy. Also, keeping the tweets close to the mid-basses usually gets you the best imaging depth (but not always).

i mounted mine inside the outter most vents, used a l bracket and screwed them down in the vent and 3m double sided taped the tweeters to them. they work awesome. plus i like how ppl get in and say "where are the tweeters? i can hear them.. where are they" lol

1 coax , 1 triax, 2 tweets in each door, 6x9 tri's and 1 tweet in rear side panels. 8" mid bass in rear deck, 2-12" subs and 4-10" subs. also 5 amps, 1 crossover
