ok so im going to be running 3600W RMS and am looking at my options for caps. Rockford, Tsunami? I dont know what to go with, any suggestions of other brands. Im lookin at 15farad and up. thanks.
How about not getting a cap at all? What amp are you running and why do you think you need an amp? What about the rest of your electrical system
big 3, high output alt, battery(s) all before cap as far as cost to effectiveness goes. once those are done, if you have the minor symptoms of needing a cap, get one. but i highly doubt after the big 3 and new alternator you will be needing one for anything at all.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I've got the big 3, with 1/0 and compression style ends. battery is brand new but will be adding a kinetix soon. alternator will be done when i drop in the new engine in a couple of months but I still want the cap for the huge amperage draw of 3 pdx-1000 amps hitting a 20hz note in 3 sealed boxes.
the batteries are great for keeping the steady voltage but can't deliver current worth a @!#$. a cap is the opposite and will empty all of its current almost instantly, with fluctuating voltage. put the two together and you're rockin.
this is going to compete in IASCA and I'm looking for options on large caps. does anybody know of certain brands?
If you're worried about current deliverability, look into batcaps.
You might also want to consider going with more runs of 1/0 to lower voltage drop. Alot of people only do this with 1 battery up front (with very, very good results), but we've also gained alot in street C going with multiple runs between the 2 batteries (no caps I might add - we've only lost db using them). Just something to think about.

caps were originally pushed for sound quality because your first note would hit just a little harder then your second note and in sq you want it to sound the same. once sq started dying down and spl became the big thing, all the sudded they started pushing caps for spl use big time. even sponrsoring certain cars and trucks who had dozens of caps on display in their system setup but in reality they werent even hooked up to the system.

so this is what im thinking. in smaller systems without the big 3 done, a cap can put less stress on the alt and battery on high current draw 'burps'. but once you upgrade the big 3 and start getting into bigger systems, the ESR of a cap will actually be a drain on the system because we are only working on 12V systems and we need all the voltage we can get.
batcap seems to have the right idea. a battery that can discharge as fast as a cap.
kinetik's batteries have very low ESR and are a great alternative to a cap
so I think I'm going to install 2 kinetik HC1800's in the trunk and be done with it
