The other day we went to put a Flip out indash dvd/Tv/Radio headunit into a 04 cav, we got the deck mounting kit and the wirer harness n even have the chime kit (it was free) all installed and plays dvd, radio, cd and what not yet when it turns off we get this humming noise coming from the back. before we did all this 2 years ago a system was installed to the factory unit all was fine and dandy had a LineConverter install to give rca cable outputs to the oem unit. the amp and converter are a bit hard to get to with the system being behind glass housing. what could be causing this hum/buzz noise with the car off also it did it when the unit was out no keys in the ign or any thing just a hole in the dash and would dieout like a few min later or if the oem unit was pluged back ing and turned on. very weird.
One last thig for the guys who have the tv/dvd/radio combo units all in one how can i wire it to over ride the ground wire that is tie to the parking brake so we can use it when moving like on trips and stuff because right now only plays video/sound in park yet sound when driving? Any help that would be great thanks.
Check your ground on the HU. As far as overriding the saftey feature on your unit we will need to know what make and model it is, some are as easy as just grounding out the wire others require a bypass module
the unit is a AUDIOVOX PAV-1510DTV
Yes. Ground the wire that goes to the parking brake. Very simple to do.
Yes, Audiovox makes Jensen, so I'm sure it's the same unit.
Everyone that watches my unit, can't believe it's a Jensen. They all say the picture is so much better than all other units, except for the Alpine IVA901. It has the same pixels as the Jensen 9510. It's a no Brainer. $2200+ for the Alpine or $700 for the Jensen.

the way i did my concept unit is i just ran a ground wire with a toggle switch connected to the parking brake wire
that humming is because the amp still has power after turning off your HU. So you need to hook up your remote wire for the amp to the HU....that will solve your problem. Also depending on the HU some times you need a toggle switch hooked up to ground other times all you gotta do is ground the wire out. Some times like on the D3 you need to do something else all together.....gl
