New Audiobahn Headunit problems.
Thursday, July 26, 2007 7:43 PM
Ok, I just switched from a pioneer headunit because it was starting to refuse to eject cd's and so I was looking for a new headunit, and since my whole system is audiobahn, I seen the headunit made by Audiobahn. It is the model A1200N headunit. Here is where te problem is, the pioneer sounded fantastic, after getting all the wiring set and before putting in the head unit I powered it up, since I always like to check before putting it all the way in. Well this is when the problems started. HU was fine, subs pounded louder than the pioneer, but the front and rears were almost whisper quiet. I tried adjusting the amp, the HU, even at maxed amp gain and the HU set at 70 of 100 volume, it was still quiet, and with the sub or even the car running, you could not hear nothing but the subs. here are what all I have for amps, etc. The old headunit was the deh6700mp, I am currently running a 1 farad cap, with 2 audiobahn amps, one 400w 4 channel running 4X6's, 6X9's, and two sets of tweeters, two in front 2 in back. I also am running at 1200w monoblock amp for the 2 10' svc audiobahn subs. I cannot figure out what is causeing it, the only thing different, was with the pioneer, it was only 2 rca outs, one front, one either sub or rear, I would set it to full, split it off one going to each of the amps. The new HU has 3 4v pre outs, front, rear, and sub. I had the bass turned all the way down, the sub control allt he way down, and the subs still way overpowered the other 8 speakers. if anyone can help, I would appreciate it, I like the headunit other than this problem with the subs sounding great, but the rest sounding almost whisper queit even at almost maxed volume.

Thanks in advance,

Keith

your right about the problem being audiojunk . get back to a pioneer with triple outputs and you should be back on track .alpine is another great choice , but damn get rid of the audiojunk deck

i wont make note of the brand since i dont care for it, but when you hooked it up did you adjust your gains on the amps. if the voltage output on the audiobahn is lower then the pioneer you will have to adjust your gains higher.

I did not touch anything on the the 1200 watt since it was working great even with the new headunit, but on the 400w 4 channel, I turned down the gains just in case but I ended up putting the gains all the way to max on the amp, and then is when I got the little sound I did, I put the pioneer back in for now, and it is back to sounding great again, I talked to a few shops and they said that the front and rear pre outs are bad from the factory, so I am going to look at returning it and possibly getting something else, not sure what but something possibly an in dash dvd, without screen since I have plans for enough screens without one in the HU iteself.

Yea def get rid of that headunit, chances are the pre-outs are 2 volt if your lucky(which i doubt) but pioneers and alpines have so many filters and freq adjustments you can really fine tune your system, also if your looking into a dvd system i highly recommend the JVC kd-avx2,it has a 3.5'' lcd,mp3,dvd,cd 5volt pre out,aux in and several tuning options,i have it in my daily driver w/ a alpine 50x4 4 channel pushing type s 5x7 components and 5x7 rears and a mtx 1501d pushing 2 12'' alpine type R's and it sounds amazing.I had a pioneer premier deh-650 which had 2 volt pre-outs but when you get any radio w/ 3-5 volts it helps alot, bottom line get rid of the audiobomb....
