Stupid Tape Player...

Alright, so I've got a cd/tape player radio in my car, the one that comes optional. Anyways, I've been using a CD -> Tape conversion player to play my MP3 player in my car, and today it spit the tape out at me, and I went to push it back in a little too fast, and now it won't accept the tape at all. Also, it seems to think that the tape is in there all the time, and whenever I try to play a cd, I have to reinsert it, or it'll stay on tape mode.

Any ideas what I broke, and how to fix it?

I might just take this opportunity to get an MP3 compatible stereo. If I go that route, any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you havn't just tried pressing the eject button a bunch of times without the tape in there it might work. You might have to disconect the battery to get it to reset itself. If you go the aftermarket route (thats what I'd do), I'd get an Alpine deck. You really cant go wrong with Alpine, there high quality and seem to last forever. If you get one just make sure you have your manual out when you try to program it. The only vice that Alpine decks seem to have is that setting them up is the most NON self explanitory I've ever seen. I still forget how to reset my clock sometimes.

Another thing is don't ever let Best Buy install it. The "installers" are just random employees that have no clue what they're doing. Either install it yourself(not hard at all) or find a small audio and stereo shop and get some subs and an amp while you're at it.

Anyways, an aftermarket deck is definitely the way to go and Alpine is one of the best companies out there so I'd check 'em out.
