maybe in the interior section?
Well if the push button start is an electronic part, maybe try the Electronics Forum. I remember seeing several posts about this, try searching too.
this is the audio and electronics forum..................i was wondering the same thing so if you find info let me know.
I don't know j-body's yet........but I will!
which wires did you hook it up to, i have had one in my car for almost a year in the same spot i just havent hooked it up yet
one side of the switch would goto a switched postive 12 volt source, and the other would goto the starter wire, very simple to do
Does the button completely bypass the stock ignition eliminating the need for a key?
Usually you have to turn the key to the "on" position, then press the button.

its possible to do it that way, but for safety reasons i woudlnt. the traditional way to do this is to have the constant 12v power connected to your switched 12v, that way the button is only active when the key is inserted ( i know, making the button a waste of time) . another way is to hook it up to your 12v constant, but then the button can always be pressed, and if its illuminated, would always be illuminated. a good idea if you have an alarm, is to have the disarm trigger power to the switch, so if the car were locked, nobody could start it. or run an AUX out of your alarm. the only problem here, is without the key you have no way to turn the car off, so youd need a toggle switch or something to kill the power.
Thanks for the info. I want one in my car but i wasn't gonna install it if it meant that you could start the car without the key.
Just to clear things up wiring it like you said (sunflowerpower) to the 12v volt constant, does that mean that you can start the car with the key too? or just with the button? So you have a choice of either.
you can still do either, the key works like normal. none of the methods disable keyed usage
Thanks alot for the help.
how would I go about wiring a push button start bypassing the key? Could I still put it into ACC mode, if i did this?
if you wanted to bypass the key you would have to bypass the passlock, using an remote starter bypass is an option, not quite sure the best option for shutting the car off though, i suppose you could mount a switch next to the starter button for the assecory wire, you would turn the switch on then start the car, then turn the switch off to shut the car off. personally i wouldn't do it unless your sure there isn't any chance in hell of the car being stolen, and if it is, if your insurance company found out they probably wouldn't cover it
