Has anyone tried this? I searched but couldn't get anything. Most of my sound comes from my rear anyways, as the rear speakers are running through the amp mounted on the back seats, and the front ones through the head unit. I was just wondering if it was worth it to install components in the rear, or just get components for the front and run them to the amp in the back. Thanks guys.
Sorry, another question (I wish there was an edit button). What are some good 6x9 component systems for the rear, if any?
get 6.5 inch components for front and back...with about 80-100 watts pre chan rms and your good! if anything do the front before the back...most of the sound you should heart obviously comes from the front. IMO your doing it backwards.....you should amp your fronts before your rears....either way an amp always helps
thanks for your help guys....i ordered an alpine mrp-f550 four channel and some infinity 6020cs 6.5" components for the front....i'm gonna leave the rear speakers for now...thanks again
run those same speakers in the back, on an MDF plate thats 6 x 9

any specific reason why? just for consistency? good speakers in general?
good components, and this way you wont be overpowering the rears, because the front and rear speakers are the same. also youll get better sound out of the rear, because a component is going to sound better than a 2-way 6x9
Yea, trust me, you don't want to overguess it and clip your rears to death especially if they are the Refference series (I think that's what you got, but could be wrong). I ended up having to cut the tinsels to my cone on the rears since I clipped them to hell. The tweeter can handle a bashing, but the cone can't handle crap, once that coil gets too hot, it's over. What's funny is that I swear I could smell them the day after I put them in while they were blasting. I guess I should have listened to that warning huh?
Moral of the story: Make sure that you aren't over-compensating on the rears to get them as loud as the fronts, you'll end up with a BBQ and they'll be gone in sixty seconds...
thats why you do what sunflower power said...6.5 components with mdf wood...you wont have the clipping problem cuz it will handle the power no problem...do the mdf for the front too....i did it and it worked out great....

ive noticed this as well.
i had a 4 a channel mtx amp hooked up to my front 4x6's and my rear 6x9's. i had the fronts faded towards them quite a bit and the rears still overpowered the fronts.
personally i like the sound coming from the rear AND the front to be equally as loud, to get a more "3D" feel. but honestly, ive yet to buy some decent components for my front and use with an amp. i bet ill love the sound.
