Post Deployment Audio Upgrade
Friday, August 31, 2007 2:11 AM
I have been out of car audio for a while due to deployment and when i get back in 2 weeks i am looking to re custoize my stereo. i have boston interior speakers with a jl 300.4 for interior sound and i am looking to get a new sub and amp combo. i had a 12 inch fosgate p3, i liked it but i am looking for a broader range of sound capability. i am thinking the sub in the driver rear corner of teh trunk with the amp mounted on teh opposite (passenger side) and having the sub box blend into the trunk and the amp with a plexiglass display in the other corner. I would mount the interior speaker amp under the package tray.
Does anyone have recos on a good sub and amp combo and comments concerns on the mounting locations?
thanks in advance
Mike

i'd just drive around for a bit as it is. ive always found the system sounds best when youve been away from it for awhile.

what do you mean by a broader range of sound? a sub should only be playing from roughly 75hz and lower which is more the bass you feel and not as much of the bass you hear. your midbass or lack of midbass may be more of a problem then your sub.

sndsgood, yeah it is the mid range on the subs. I listen to rock then rap then some sinead *kidding*, and the rock and some rap beats play but they do not hit like they should

i will keep it the same for now because it needs to go to the body shop for a good deal of work, got hit by a truck so new ww avenger kit, cbd turbosport hood x1 fenders and a fresh coat of paint need to get on before i worry about sound. the only other reason for changing it is i have a blazer i will be driving that has no radio in it currently.

I appreciate any suggestions

you have a jl amp already i would stay with that and get maybe a w3 to maybe a w7 and a 500/1 or 1000/1 depending on what kinda of bass you want

Brandon,
The JL 300/4 is made to power my highs primarily. I do not know if it has sufficient sub handling capabilities. I have a rockford 800a2 with around 700 rms and 1024 *dyno* watts max. Its an old school one, not their newer junk. Any suggestions on what to use with it? I used to have a rockfrd P3 12" dvc that rocked, but it blew up too much power and my piss poor driving i guess.
My bro has a ebay store so i can get pioneer products at price do they have anything good?

by mid i mean bass that isn't pounding hard, but should still hit, the only thing that comes to mind is rock music drums, not the ones that hit low, but the ones that hit sharper and faster. terrible explination i know, i do apologize for that. kind of hard to explain when you havent sat in yur car since feb.
do you have any ideas what sub would match up to the fosgate amp?
