Hi guys, I bought 12" neon tube but I realise I can not put in my car because it does not come with cigarette plug.....
it comes with wires which red and black and I know some one will say just connect with 12V DC but thing is I don't want it be turned on forever even I turn off the car.(waste battery)
anybody able to help me?
Do I need to buy a switch to on/off?
is there possible to connect with head light? then how?
If I get switch still how do I make it happens?
sorry for massive question.
Just trying to do something in my life...
switch, go to radio shack, find a swithc int eh parts bin with two tabs on it. connect black to ground, red to one tab of switch other tab goes to power...done
or go to radioshack and buy the cigarette adapter, connect the wires and plug it in at your convienince
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
does any body has photo to direct, frankly I don't know what radio shack and how to connect to ground. and what does ground look like? any photo? plz~

I suggest you take it to a local audio shop and have them install it for you.

FIRST THINGS FIRST.. MAKe sure its even 12v and not for a computer or some other thing
its if its not 12v and u connect it to 12v ur gonna @!#$ something up.
Besides that. Buy a switch and an inline fuse.. Take the black wire connect it any bare metal
Take the red connect it to one prong on the switch, take another wire connect the other prong on the switch to the battery +, or any constant 12v or ignition etc..

Thanks for your opinion, and could you tell me where can I learn basic then? I'm really interesting about this subject but don't know what should I learn first.

the language would be a good place to start (just sayin, it would be much easier to learn things if people understood what the people trying to teach are saying)

oznium.com and its forums are tremendous help on such things.
Here Is a write up I done here on the .org a couple of years ago maybe this will help you....
Installing Neons
ok first you need to know how a auto cigg. lighter works... when you look at a cigg. lighter plug there is a metal
pieceon each side and one in the middle at the end... a cigg. lighter combines neg. and pos. to create a direct
circuit which powers the lighter or lights whatever... the 2 metal pieces on the outside of the plug is your ground
(negative - ) and the one on the very end is your power (positive +). If you unscrew the plug there will be a fuse
going to the end piece that is like a in-line fuse if you have a back serge of power it will blow the fuse before the
light. here are some basic's for ya...lol Neons like all other lights need a positive flow and a negative flow to
operate (it completes a circuit)... fuses complete a circuit but are able to catch a serge and stop it before it burns
the electronics up...(ie. neons, amps, exc.)
Toggle switches are like light switches they break a complete circuit when shut off and complete it when turned on
Toggle Switches usually have three prongs coming out of the bottom of them, one is for ground, one is for ACC.
(ie. light power wire) and one is for Power...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok now that you know that we can start, now when cutting the plug off do these steps...
1. Mount your neon's where you want them most have alot of extra slack so no worries on length...
2. Cut your plugs off and run your wiring (ie. run it where it can't be seen) to the area where you want your toggle switch to be...
3. Now run a wire from your positive on your battery or a direct current wire (but don't hook it up yet) to your toggle switch area...
4. Now you will want to run your ground wire. you can ground it to the car body (ie. seat bolts, or any screw that is in the metal chasis) or run a wire from the negative on your battery...
5. Ok now that you have everything ran take the positive + wire on the light (usually marked with a white line going down it or red) strip off the plastic coating, crimp a connector on it, and hook it to the ACC. on the toggle switch...
6. Now take the ground wire from the light and the ground you hooked up on step 4 and strip the coating off of both wires and twist them together and crimp a connector on and connect it to the ground on the toggle switch...
7. Ok now with your positive wire you hooked up from step 3 strip the plastic coating off and crimp a connector on and hook it to the
positive+ on the toggle switch...
Step 8 isn't nessasary but it will help if your electrical system serges...
8. ok now about 3 inches from where you want to connect your positive direct power wire. cut the wire and strip both ends and connect one end to one end of the fuse holder and the other end to the other end...lol... now remove the fuse out of the fuse holder and connect the end wire to your positive + source. once you get that done push the fuse back in check all your connections and turn it on and enjoy...
