I was wondering if any of you have had experiences (good or bad) with power window kits for cars that normally didn't have them. The kits that loop around the old manual handle spindle and the motor drives a shaft that turns the spindle. I am thinking about adding Power windows and wondering if it is worth it to install the whole factory motor and siccors assembly or go this route? Thanks for any feed back.
Everything Louder than Everything else
I just installed the SPAL power window kit yesterday....
The install was easy and the window operation is pretty smooth and quick.
They tend to be a little loud, but with the music turned up a bit you cant tell...so far I am happy with them.
Thanks, I'd be interested in hearing from you after a bit of time with them.

Personally, I just finished the exact opposite. Removed my piece of crap factory power windows for some good old fashioned hand cranks. They won't break again, like a motor will.

I've had the spal kit in for about 3 years now and no problems at all.

I used the same product, but bought them through a1electric.com, looks to be about $60 cheaper too...
I'm leaning towards the Spal kit, and am really not worried about them breaking like the factory ones. Besides, I think it's safer to use a button then to learn across the car at 60 Miles an Hour and roll the window up.

My advice, if you have the time and the knowlage, is go to a junkyard and rip out the crank stuff from a car of the came model and install it yourself.
I did that with power door locks and power mirrors, works great
you'd have to drill out the rivets that hold the motor on and add little screws and nuts to your install
...just another idea
when i did my door swap.. the new door was a manual crank... so I took the motor/scissors out of my old door and swapped it in to my new door... works beautifully... its just tricky riviting/bolting on the motor... other then that.. the swap maybe took a half hour... but I think it's worth it.. I have seen to many factory setups that use spools crap out...
