Ok so this isnt exactly a cavy but Its got more to do with audio than anything....
Our shop has had the same system in our 84 toyota tercel wagon for about 2 years. When we started the car It consisted of 4-15" Memphis Mojo DVC subs. We have 2 mempis 1000d amps, one to each two subs. Last year we decided to just stick with 2 subs b/c you can sell a two subs setup easier than you can 4. upgraded the deck to an AVX2 put in a line driver, two 1 farad caps, and a 7 band eq. We metered and it hit 160.2 at 32 hz.
Since we brought in JL we have really had a hard time selling in when you compare side by side JL and Memphis.
Unless the customer is a gunho avid JL enthusiast we were able to sell the memphis just on price and warranty alone.
So we decided to put it to the test
Yesterday we installed 2-15w7's and heres what we got.
we were consistent 159.9 all day and hit 160.0 twice with a burp at 34hz
pretty close.
The JL's are a little tighter
Mojo's are a deeper bass and you can feel it more in your chest.
now for the price
JL-$999.00 pc
memphis $459.00 pc
We may demo the green car with the JL's for a while so we can boost our JL sales a little
We just did SPL yesterday. The vast majority of our customers are looking for ear hurting bass
The JL higher end speakers perform better than the memphis highs. (however they are at their best when they are amped)
As for as the subs, the JL is tighter and has more clarity and out performs the Memphis in that category.
Next I think we are going to compare the M1's to the W7. The W7 should be louder but the M1 is suppose to be more efficient
We have put a single M1 12" up to a 12W7 and the M1 hands down kicked the W7 butt and that was off a JL1000. Hopefully I will be able to get some more pics and a video up by middle of next week.
