Car Alarm + Trunk Release

So I just got a CompuStar Car Alarm/Remote starter installed into my car.. the install place wanted a fortune to make it so i can pop my trunk from the remote so I was wondering if there is an easier solution then carying around my stock remote+alarm/starter remote... The model # is 2W8000FMR

its like one wire if im remembering correctly. The only thing that may suck is running a wire all the way back to the trunk if you cant find it in the kick.

ya I thought it would be just one wire... if anyone has done this before please let me know what needs to be done =).... The install place said that they would have to wire a manual button to the inside.. but I didn't think that would be necessary since my stock remote can pop it no problem

Manual button isn't necessary. Most likely will have to use a relay to convert the signal from the alarm to the 12v+ needed to release the trunk. It's actually quite easy, and there's no way it should've been expensive.

The place said it would be a minimum of $80-$100.... so do i just find where the stock remote wire is and swap it into the compustar module or do I have to set up an entirely new connection?

what you need to to do is get a relay. Most places sell them for 10 bucks...and get them for like 2 bucks...anyway all you need is one relay and do some wiring and your good. i dont know about your car but i got an 04 and its +trigger and a black/white wire at the kick.

87- 12volts
86- channel output from alarm (should have like 6 of em)
85- 12volts
30- trunk pop wire on car

do this and youll have no problems....and it will only cost you 10 bucks and 15 mins if you know what your doing.....

Done and done.... also manage to get the dome supervision thing working..... Got one last question... any idea how to get it so when i lock my doors the dome light goes off? I know with the stock passlock it does?

Probably not... because the domelight is controlled from the BCM with the delay and the stock keyfob is the same. When you lock/arm with the aftermarket remote, it just sends a lock signal, you're not arming the factory alarm. There's not a wire code on directtechs for factory arm/disarm... you're probably stuck with the delayed domelight like I am.

I really cant find any info on you alarm but you should have a 500ma (-) when armed wire on there for a starter disable. If you wire a relay to that and get do the dome wire after it goes to the bcm you should be able to control the dome. Its the white wire at the dimmer panel or behind the drivers a-pillar

black wire with white stripe. wire alram to relay to trigger 12v to that wire and your set

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

I just tapped into the switch under the steering column. Works fine.

yeah tap into the wire wherever convenient. just usually gotta reverse polarity with a relay and program it with your remote. just google for the manual to your model number and it should come up with a .pdf somewhere for you to read. not a big deal
