electrical problem

Maybe this should be in maintenance?

I've got an odd electrical problem that recently started. When idling my lights will pulse. normal, dim, normal, dim. Originally that was just at idle. Now it's anything under 2500rpms.

This is with the lights on or off. My sound system on or off. So, I know it's not just my lights or sound system.

Any ideas? Do I need to get a new alternator?

my first guess would be the alternator. maybe go get it tested or if you have a volt meter put it on the battery posts when the car is idling. it should read somewhere in the 14V range. this isn't a surefire test but if its at fluctuating or low you have a problem somewhere

My grounds are okay, my wires are okay, my connections on the battery are tight. Odd... I'll check the voltage later.

Thanks for the tip

Voltage is a constant 13.3 with the sound system off. Today it was acting weird, where when I took the car out of gear when coming to a stop the car died and the battery light came on. I was able to restart it each time, but it made driving home difficult.

I've had the idle adjusted to 850rpms with HP Tuners

Voltage regulator inside the alternator would be my guess.

could it be your chassis ground?
