What is everyone's opinion on the best sounding 6x9? I wanna replace my crappy Lightning Audio's. And I don't have a crap load of money so keep cost in reason.

my pioneer premier 4-ways sound pretty good..

Infinity sounds good, Kenwoods are full sounding also. Im making the same decisions right now
Do you have an Audio dealer near you? Look to see what they have and you like the sound of, then go on ebay and get them for cheap!
personly i got eclipse 3 way but the pioneers would be great for the price.
So everyone seems to think that the Pioneers are optimum for the price? Is there a certain model?

Any Pioneer is the whip. I have always like Pioneer, and to this day they have yet to give me any problems...EVER! LOVE 'EM!
I have the pioneer 3-Way 220Watt 6x9's...they are pretty damn good, not as good as the 4-ways, but I got them so cheap at ABC Warehouse on sale.

so much misinformation. its all about the end user its subjective.
Well anything is better than Lightning Audio. I just want a decent set that will sound good and clear without breaking the bank. I agree Pioneer is great but I just wanted to hear others opinions.

another reason why custom shops can't make it. people want to go to them to gain the knowledge and get information, then go spend the money elsewhere. support your local shops before they all dissapear.

Damn it sndsgood.... they wanted 275 for my components, open box.
They were 100 online, new.
I am a broke ass college student. I can't afford to spend money on something i can have the same for cheaper. I buy accessories (wire, install stuff, and my deck) from the shop, as that stuff isn't overpriced around here. But lets face it, sometimes too much is too much.
I love my Pioneers... Old school TS-A6995's, 4 way.
Pioneer or Kenwood sound pretty good and arn't that expensive..
I'm partial to my Infinity 3-ways though. I think they go for around $160 a pair or something close to that.
As far as going to a regular audio shop... thats where I will be going to buy any amps in the future (maybee subs too)... you just can't trust people in most chain stores anymore.
I'm presently using a set of 180watt Sony Xplod 3ways in my cavy. They sound alright, but then for $23 and change after tax, I guess it's hard to complain. And yeah, that was new price.
When they start to melt and it sounds like Godzilla has Al Sharpton in a headlock, then tell us how good those explodes are.
Well....I lived in FL with them installed in a dark brown 81 Malibu [no AC] for 7 years before I put them in the Cavy. They're still playing well. Though they could use an aftermarket stereo backing them rather than the factory GM CD player. I just don't have the money for anything right now.
I have the 4-way kenwood 6x9s and they sound pretty clear to me

I really love my Kicker KS693s. I have had them for about 2 and a half years now. No problems, took a little bit to get them tuned with the rest of my system on the amp. They handle really well for the price I paid for them. I am not sending any bass to them since my sub takes care of that and these speakers really seem get all the mid to high pitch tones.
Most people don't like Kicker anymore since they have seemed to go quite down hill in recent years. But I have a Pioneer HU, kicker/USamps speaker/amp setup with RE subs and it sounds great to me.
Yet no one and I mean no one mentions Memphis audio on this topic. Running 250 watts RMS to them for the alst 2 years and doing great. Way better than anything Pioneer or Kenwood could offer in my opion. Memphis FTW!!!!
i agree with the pioneer and infinity. i have pioneers and they haven't given me any problems. i recently went to best buy to just listen to other speakers again and i'm definitely i fan of infinity. they sound soo good.

I have a Memphis audio 400watt amp, but it's never been installed in any of my cars. It came from my friend's 1987 Tercel 2dr, he had it powering two JL 12"s So I know how well it powered 12" subs at least ^_~
I just need a head unit, amp wiring and time for installing my system, but lacking funds and working weird hours isn't helping that come about.
Infinity Kappas sound really nice...
Infinity is alright, but then again there is that one guy running Sony. With the Infinity your paying for a name, nothing special about them except that harshness that emits from them. Memphis, nothing harsh about them at all. The other thing on my mind is why is everyone hung up on Pioneer? And JL? Well I can almost understand the Pioneet thing, reliability. They built a rep for that over the years. But JL? Come on people, is anyone here tired of paying for a name? Yeah the get loud and low, but then again there are numorous brands out there that put JL in the water.
