hi, i was just wondering if it would be possible to have both lights on lows and highs at the same time? if i could wire it up or if there is a kit some where i could buy?
thanks in advance and i did search sorry if its been posted.

Yes you will need 2 relays
how much would it cost and where could i buy some. do they come with directions on how to hook them up?

not sure if it works like it does on a mazda 6 but when i put hid's in it they stay on with the brights
I know on my 04 Cavy, if you pull back on the stalk, the highs and lows will stay on so long as you don't let go. On the other hand I am having a problem with my back up lights not coming on in reverse [5spd]
ive been wondering the same thing. altho i thought that if you had them bothe on at the same time it melted the harness or something cause its trying to pull to much current through the harness
wut year is your car because the newer ones have a 9007 bulb which houses both hi and low beams.. seems like it could damage something if you did that..
also i was under the assumption that hi beams were just more power going to the bulbs.. but what do i know (not much)
95-99 use 2 bulbs. 9005 and 9006 i believe.
yea the 95-99's have 2 lights. the reason why i want to know is because i got them ebay one piece led halo projectors and the highs are pointed to high up in the air but if i can get the lows on at the same time it would be perfect. i mean they look great its just the function suffers. does any one know where i could get these relays or if i could wire it up some how.
here a pic of the led halo projectors

It is possible with the 95-99's but not with the 00-05's. The 95-99's have the two bulbs, both with a single filament, but the 00-05's have a single bulb, dual filament. If you were to hold the stalk on the 00-05's for a long enough time, you would burn out the either the high or low beam or possibly even both. It is the same problem for the 91-94's

You can do it using relays, but like others have said theres a possibility of melting the harnesses or burning out the bulbs.
Perhaps any suggestions for VERY bright driving lights or fog lights?

Why would you melt you harness? it uses 2 seprate wires in the harness vs. not just 1. also the bulb has 2 filiments so i dont see a problem.
i would be more worried about it being a problem for that housing. its an ebay headlight and might not even be built to DOT specs, nevermind being built to withstand 110W of two bulbs right beside each other.
you may just be better off to get brighter bulbs or real HIDs. those HIDs are not suppsed to be the absolute best for light output from what i hear.
also, your cavalier looks like a z24. why not just upgrade your foglight bulbs to the higher wattage ones. factory is 27W. the higher wattage ones are 55W (double the output). factory bulb is a 881 (i think) the 55W replacement is the 886 (i think).

the assemblies are built to dot specs and the fog light thing is what i think im going to go with. i already have silverstars but the assemly has the brights and lows set in the wrong place.(highs are to high and lows are to low). any suggestions for some good aftermarket foglights like what brand and where to buy them?

do you think i could wire up some high beams in my fog lights for some really bright fog lights or would that be too much heat in the foglights and melt the housing? and im starting to think the low beams that i got with the projectors are not the best they said they sent out h1 bulbs how good are those? can i put any kind of light in projectors?

i dont know about your projectro bulb question.
as for your foglight question, any bulb will do. upgrading the wattage to a 55W bulb from the stock 27W will make more of the difference. the only real difference will be in the colour of the light output by the bulb. also, its harder to find an aftermarket 886 bulb, or what evere the higher wattage bulb for the fogs is.

I'd say put some #886 bulbs in your fog light housings. For being 55w, they were alot brighter than my highs. Hasn't damaged the housings in any way either. I'd recommend doing that before trying to get both your highs and lows to be on at the same time. (On a side note, who did you get your headlights from? I've been wanting those lights but am a bit weary of alot of the sellers on ebay.)

I'd go to your local auto parts store, like autozone or advance. At autozone I got a pair of 886 sylvania bulbs for $7 each. $20 seems like a bit much for 2 bulbs, but If you cant get them locally, then yeah, those bulbs look allright
the filaments over heat and burn one or the other out, thats why.

I use the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra s and they are really nice.

I bought those exact halo projectors love em and their one piece I also gotbulbs off ebay and have exact same problem their not aimed right owell cars parked for winter Ill probly get good bulbs in spring,My low beams are pretty good I find with mine

because you are now drawing more amperage than the harness can handle.
9007's, the bulb will melt, I've seen it firsthand.
This is for a Ford pickup, but the concept is the same (and which pins to use on the relay)... if someone wants to translate this into J-body wiring, by all means, have at it.

I know this has been dead for a while but nobody ever came up with a write up for this so here is a good start.I did this on a 95 Silverado with the plastic headlight housing and it never hurt my truck's bulbs nor did it have any ill effects on the wiring harness of plastic headlight housing.I went out to my 98 Cavalier to get the wiring colors and things so I don't know what other years the colors were the same.If in doubt, turn your headlights on and check the plugs (for the bulbs) with a multi-meter on low and also on high beam.
You will probably need 2 relays as these have a fuse for each side (1 fuse left lamp and 1 fuse right lamp) in the fuse panel. Do one side then repeat instructions for the other.
Here are the color codes for the headlight wires on a 98 Cav.
-------------------------------
Low beam
Orange + Pos
Dark Blue - Neg
High beam
Orange + Pos
Red - Neg
-------------------------------
Now here is what you will have to do.Remember this is for ONE side. You will have to repeat this for the other lamp.
1. Mount A Relay under the hood (right behind the headlight bucket would be nice)
2. Run a wire from #87 to the low beam + wire (Orange)
3. Run a wire from #85 to a good ground with a self tapping screw or a straight to the negative battery terminal
4. Run a wire from #86 to the high beam + wire (Also Orange)
5. Run a wire from #30 to the + side of the battery with an in line fuse.
6. Tape up your connections and zip tie the wires.. test it out first before moving to the other headlamp.
All you need is 2, 30 AMP, 4 post relays from your auto parts store.
Just make sure the relays have pins numbered 87-86-85-30 on top.
Other than the relays you will need some wire (Length depends on where you mount the relays)
Wire connectors or solder and soldering iron, heat shrink and or electrical tape and heat gun or butane lighter for making and sealing connections.
On the relays you can solder the wires to the pins like I did or you can get the small blade like connectors that will slide on to the posts and crimp to the wires.
This may not be the best or most complete write up but I'm new here and am trying to help contribute and do do my part to help the .org and members. Please add to this or correct me if I am wrong anywhere.Be safe and happy modding!!!!
