Well I've reached a dilemma. I have 4 power wires running off of my battery and it looks like hell, so ideally I'd like to run 1/0 gauge into the cabin, and branch everything off of there.
I have a couple of options I'm exploring.....................
-Using a fused dist. block, only issue is that it's a bit more bulky therefore making it a PITA to hide underneath the dash. The positive is that this eliminates having everything individually fused as it is now.
-The other idea I came across was just running a standard dist. block and just fusing the 1/0 gauge. Though I don't feel that's enough protection for the devices that are ran off of it. Of course I would prefer this, but I understand if it's not safe.
Chances of all 4 accessories being used at the same time are slim to none though.
-power for the shaved door kit's brain
-another is seperate power for the relays/remote window down
-8ga amp wiring which is currently unused and will most likely remain that way
-4ga running to the trunk powering air-ride accessories, mainly being the compressor. The only real current draw I see here is my AZ compressor.
Thanks for any advice/help.
try this
make a cover for the battery and stick all your fuses on it.
That would work nicely, but the main thing I'm not feeling right now is the fact that I have all these wires running through my engine bay, granted they are loomed I'd rather run one wire off the battery and keep things looking clean.
I would definitely want the branch runs to be fused also, since in the wost-case that any of the smaller cables shorts, that cable is likely to overheat before the 0/1 gauge fuse blows.

anytime you branch power wires off your are supposed to fuse them. its not just about what is being used. what happens of one of your power wires to say an amp came undone.. u should be able to hide a distro block under the dash just fine, ive got my entire fuse block from the engine bay and my cpu hidden under my dash without any issues.

Ive got a stinger dist block with 4g ran from battery back, then branched to amp, and all wiring for air ride and each branch is fused on the block and i wouldnt have it any other way, its saved me so many hassles with dealing with problems i had with things blowing and what not so i def recomend getting a fused block, i picked mine up at a local audio shop for 20 bucks and its got the led volt gauge and leds to show when a fuse blows and all that good stuff, and it isnt really that big im sure you could hide it under the dash i have mine mounted on my false trunk floor beside my sub box
Awesome advice.
After taking apart the dash once again I realized that all the leads on the shaved door kit brain are fused. That's good news. Going to add a fuse inline to the power for the remote window relays, and one onto the 4 gauge.
Going to turn out real nice, I picked out the pieces needed today
