Hey everybody Im sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but I have a '03 cavalier (base model) and I am in search of a High performance alternator whether it be 150, 160, 180, or even 200 amps. Ive been searching the web, but can not find anything over 120amps. If anyone could tell me where I can find a high performance alternator at a good price i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Be careful, as some models actually put out LESS amperage at idle, but more at higher rpm's, so be sure to check the idle amperage.
Yea I was looking at that on motorcityreman.com. They said it if I chose the 200amp alternator that it would have a low output at idle, but with some system upgrades it would be fine. Such as upgrading the positive battery cable, getting a smaller then stock pulley, and get a fully charged battery. Im purchasing the Yellow Top Optima battery later this week. So would that be alright or would guys defer against this move???
It all depends on your goals. It looks like "lower output" on their unit is still 90-100 amps, which is nearly the maximum output on our stock alternators. This will still cover quite a bit of load -- but if you plan on sitting around idling while pulling your heaviest current loads, then this might not cut it. If your car is actually moving, it becomes a non-issue.

I would sell you my 200 amp excessive amperage but i think the eco uses a different alt.
Im probably not going to be cranking my bass at idle that much unless Im at a stop light just to show off for a second, but Im pretty sure I will purchase that 200 amp alt on their website if I cant find it cheaper anywhere else. I purchased the Optima Yellow top battery this morning and will be installing it on saturday after I get my new amplifier (Rockford Fostage 1000w class BD). Depending on how my cavy takes to the new power will determine how bad I need the 200 amp alt. Cant wait to hear how this is going to sound with my type Rs.
I got a 200amp from excessive amperage for the 2200
Eco mounting is different than your 2200.
