1996 Sunfire Theft System Problem PLZ HELP

Let me preface by saying... never again.
that said.

I was working on my sisters car yesterday installing a remote starter, the Unit is an Ultra Start, unsure of model # off hand. The bypass I intended to use was a Platform 6 (XK06) from bypasskit with the PLXR firmware.

Well, heres the problem, I disconnected the battery and made all my appropriate connections, including the bulb check wire. The Passlock wire I grabbed was the yellowish/white colored wire in the 3 wire ribbon harness coming off of the key cylinder.

Now when I went to reconnect the battery and learn the bypass all hell breaks loose. The fuel pump turns on, but the car just cranks and cranks and cranks, doesnt get spark. With the key in the "ON" position, the "Theft System" light glows solid on the cluster, it is not flashing, but on solid. I have tried doing the learn routine and it has not worked. Whats more, the GM dealers in the area have refused to look at it.

My questions:

1. Anyone know of what may be going on and how to fix it, or what the exact learn routine is?

2. If that fails anyone know how to remove the passlock system? I know thats a stretch.

Bonus Question: I was able to hook it up right at the plugs at the key cylinder, how involved is dropping that under dash?

Your PLXR is the older version of the PLJX. They wire up identically. Connect power to the box, hold the button till the LED flashes, and press the button once, then hold it till the light comes on solid. Then start your car, press the button, you'll hear the box click or the light will flash, turn it off, hook the brown wire up to a negative ignition output on your remote start, and voila, it should work. Before you do all of this, disconnect the bypass module, wire up the yellow wire again, and make sure you can start the car. Just sounds like the resistance isn't set, but just double check it before you go thru those steps. I don't recall ever hooking up the bulb test wire either on any of the passlock 1 cars I've done.

no the problem is not the remote starter, but even when starting with the key it will just crank and then no starting.

Right, if the module isn't programmed, you can't start with the key either because you cut that yellow wire. That's why I said try it with puttting the yellow wires back together first to see if it's not another problem.

oh, yea the yellow wire was never cut, I used a bypass that just got spliced into it. Its something other than that

Have you tried disconnecting the module? Yellow is resistance, Black is ground, and white is either a data or power wire, i want to say it's a data wire. If you had the module set for passlock 2 or 3 the system is definitely going to freak out.

the bypass module?, yea it is disconnected, the car is back to stock and passlock is still freaking out. Whats bugging me is everyone says the theft light flashes where mine glows solid, anyone know what this might mean? Also does anyone know where that ribbon cable goes to, like where the passlock "brain" is located in the vehicle.

Try keeping your door closed and the ignition to ON for about 10 minutes. The light should go out and you should be able to start your car. My car's doing that too (tried repeatedly starting with a dead battery) and that's what you gotta do. Sounds like you did something wrong programming your bypass module.
