Ohm's, Amps, and Speakers
Thursday, December 27, 2007 7:37 AM
My System right now consists of

6 3/4" Kenwood (2Ohm) Components in the doors (65w RMS)
6 x 9 Kenwood (4 Ohm) In the Back deck (10-80W RMS)
2 10" Kenwood Subs (4ohm each right now fed by a mono 2ohm load) in the Trunk (150-175w RMS each)

And as it stands I have 3 Amps. One for each Set. It's a Mess.

I want to consolidate the Amps into one, and I had found an Infinity Amp (5ch) that boasts some RMS that match my system.

# 5 channel car audio subwoofer amp
# 50 watts RMS @ 4 ohm x4
# 60 watts RMS @ 2 ohms x 4
# 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohms x1 (sub portion)
# 300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms x1 (sub portion)

Would amp be able to power my components and Subs at 2 ohm, while suppling my 6 x 9's with 4Ohm? I could run my 6x9's mono to make it a 2Ohm to match, but that would sound like @!#$.

Run everything stereo, run your subs parallel, and call it a day. That'll work for you.

Awesome, can anyone second that?

you'll be fine. everything is still run in pairs. amps can get a little fussy when running different impedances through the same paired channels.

Awesome.

I probably will be going with a 4ch Kenwood for the speakers, and getting a 600w Mono block for infinities that i plan to be buying, as the can't handle volume.

Now i just need my paycheck..
