I have a sony deck with a small minor issue. My deck plays good, but the face plate light that shows your volume, track, settings etc... is out and I can't see anything I'M doing. Would you think its a defect in the deck or simple light bulb etc..

typical sony deck, it may not work right but it'll work for a long time.
if you can go snatch up a pioneer unit.

My cuz had one and his ribbon cable that goes from the unit to the faceplate came detached. If you get low in your car and look from the bottom at your faceplate you should be able to see it.

I'm assuming you either have a removable or flip down faceplate right?

After ahwile... they do get a little loose... but here's a trick that usually helps a lot...

The terminals like to get dirty and not connect well sometimes.... (the gold ones the touch when the faceplate is up)..

Get a brand new pencil with a clean eraser on it...... and clean the connections with the eraser..... make sure to get any dirt off..... then blow any eraser residue off....

Your faceplate will prob work better after you do that......... unless it's a fitment issue due to wearing from age...

If it has a removeable face im sure there is not going to be a ribbon cable. But there are some sonys that have a flip down face that use a ribbon cable instead of a pin connection. Which i have heard come loose very easy .

Could you post a picture of your HU or give us a model #?
