Hey everyone! What's shakin'? I've tried the good old search function but I can't find what I'm looking for. It's a pretty simple question actually. Can anyone tell me how I would go about hooking up my 8 gauge amp wire to the good old ACDELCO battery? It doesn't have those nice top terminals, but instead those side terminals. Is it possible to add top terminals or is there some sort of connector availble I could use to good it up to the battery? If possible, could someone post some pictures so I have an idea of what ot expect.... Thanks again!
go buy yourself one of these.
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
or that... its meant to go into GM side terminal batteries and replaces the bolt that is currently there for the positive terminal.
or you can do what i did. there is a short cable that comes from the positive terminal of the battery, its about a foot to a foot and a half long, and goes to the positive bus of the under the hood fuse and relay block. if you pull up the fuse block, there is a bolt at the front of it where this wire attaches to the bus. you can undo that bolt and attach the positive wire for the amp there with a connector like christopher posted above.

I eventually purchased something like whitegoose posted, but that was only after I had to accommodate two runs of 4 gauge. Initially, I was able to sandwich a single 4 gauge ring connector under the stock terminal bolt and cable with a minimum of effort.

man i just created a Y shape with Bare 4-gauge wire made sure it was in good and tighted into the positive works prefect no problems. Had problems in the past with that stupid connector
sndsgood wrote:yeah but ive seen allot more problems associated with people just twisting wires and sticking it to a post then from using the proper connectors.
True.
Corrosion happens a lot more with that way of connecting. Caused a few dead batteries on my 92 cav. I wised up and use rings now.
Yep have to go with mark. What i did was took a razor and sliced a little section of the rubber off the cover, then used a connector to make my 4 gauge fit! Works like a charm and the sleeve for the connector fills the slight hole that i had to cut

Perfect! Thanks alot of all of your suggestions! I've found a store that has one of those connectors that Chris suggested. This'll work out nicely
