Im looking for a decent quality in dash system for my 04 pontiac sunfire that has dvd features, that is, with the screen and cd/dvd player, along with radio. Im not looking to get the best one out there, just one that's reliable with relativley good sound. Any Advice on what to get?
do you have a budget? That's some expensive equipment, might want to rethink putting a 1000-1500$ headunit in a 10k car.
$1000? $1500? where do you guys shop? www.onlinecarstereo.com almost all of those type of headunits range from $400 (Dual, Boss, Lanzar) to $700 (Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood)
I priced out an ALL ALPINE TYPE R system with a double din, three amps, two sets of components, two sets of coaxial 6x9, type type r 12s, capacitors, all that jazz...for like 3k
Big plans for the '04 Fire.

Go with a double din. I have the motorized flip out and think the double dins look so much nicer.
Go with Eclipse over Alpine, unless you are looking for serious processing capabilities for sound quality. The Eclipse has a nicer picture and the Eclipse has a much faster "boot up" time. The Alpines kind of lag when loading cds/dvds.

I disagree with you mennitti. I install the eclipse units all the time and by far like the alpine double dins better. They are much nicer, you dont have to turn the volume up as far to get good sound without using an external amp on your interiors and more user friendly than the eclipse and they have far more capability features than the eclipse units, especially the eclipse 5510.

I can see your point but I'm talking picture quality for a daily driver, without a serious stereo system; all the time allignment, eq, x-over bells and whistles don't matter to the average consumer. We have them side by side and the picture quality on the Eclipse is better. Plus that cd boot up lag time is annoying when you have it in your car everyday.
