what i am wondering is if anyone knows a way to hook up a sub and amp to a factory cd player... i'm not trying to do this to my car my friend wants to do it in his Mazda 6... but i can't think of a way he could do this regardless of the car... anyone have any ides?? or is this not possible??
Well Kevin, there's a number of ways to accomplish this. I am only goin to explain 2 because they are the more common methods.
1.) Use a
Line-out converter, It is a converter that attaches to your factory pos and neg speaker wires and converts the signal to rca(what you need to send signal to the amp.) Then simply plug in the rcas and Wham! you've got bass!
2.) Simply buy an amp with high-level inputs. ( these are built into newer amps so that you can simply splice in the included wires and plug into the amp.)
Again, either will work, just please inform your buddy that he will gain ALOT more if he just swaps hu's all together.
Hope this answers your questions.
144db@38hz! It hurts so good !
it has to be done how brent dames said to do it, but your really mch better off just getting a new hu
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
If your buddy really wants to retain his factory headunit then buy a Line lever converter. They are like 30 ish dollars.....

It CAN be done just the way Brent stated. I did it in my 98 using the Line-out converters. I have had an installer hear my system and stated it sounded really good.
