anyone care to lend a hand in designing a ported box for 2 10" Kaption SPL subs?
these are the box recommendations from kaption
and more info about them can be found in the manuel
http://www.kaptionaudio.com/manuals/SPLManual.pdf
id like a slot ported box and clearly the SPL ported box

they dont really seem to make sense. a longer port of the same diameter should produce a lower tune. also its a .75 or 1 cube box. you are not going to pysically fit a 20 or 25 inch port. Remember i did not run that through a port calculator but it doesnt add up to me. I know that the box size is slightly different but i still dont see it working right.
ya i thoght it was kinda odd that they asked for such a big port in such a small box lol i wanna go with a slot ported box instead

It is possible, but the port is going to have to have some sort of elbow in it. It's not going to be a straight thru port.
DO you have the dual 2 or the dual4?
yeah and it wont be just one bend. 25 inches in a .75 cube box? Then you start bending and end correction would come into play. that would be a night mare.
i have two dual 4ohm subs, why?

3 cubes internal, make the face 13 - your port will be 4 inches wide, 6 inches deep and it would be 10 1/2 tall - should get you tuned to 35 hertz. Wysi's much better at ports than I am - maybe he'll chime in.

how would i even fit 2 10s and a 4" port on a 13" face? lol
thanks Steven, anyone see anything wrong with what steve posted?

by 13" face i think he means outer box height - .75mdf each top and bottom will give you a 10.5" tall port
ahhh fair enough, i should of read it again lol
now which box do i go with? lol

Thats roughly what I was going to recommend. And I asked about coil config to know which set of T/S specs to use. I was bored and going to throw something together quick for ya. Anyway I would go with what he says. Don't forget to include speaker and port displacement in your box.
not saying ur guys box suggestions are @!#$ty or anything but why so big when kaption is saying .75 for the spl ported box?

you need to take into account the port and woofer displacement.

.75 cubes is going to give you terrible low end response. At least that is my experience. I wouldn't run it in anything less then 1 cube ported at the minimum.

dont u mean the port would be 11 1/2 tall? 13-.75-.75=11.5
if you messed up and the port is supposed to be 10.5" tall then the face is only 12" tall......i jsut wanna get this straightened out before i come up with a box design
or maybe im jsut retard today and im thinking something else haha

My bad, no the box should be 13 tall, and port is 11 1/2 tall, not 10 1/2. my brain wasn't working.
