What Car Alarm?
Thursday, February 28, 2008 8:23 AM
Hey guys, I'm in the market for a car alarm, and trying to figure out what to grab! I'm leaning towards viper/python/clifford because they're all the same brain and I trust them, but everything I find on ebay is just basically a 2 way remote start! I don't even want a remote start! lol. I'm looking for a 2 way pager, and want to try to pick on up on the cheap(er) side, and install it myself... now that I have all my stereo equipment in the car, the CF hood and the lights, I don't want some dumbass trying to steal it from me while I'm at school (I go to college.. almost done!)

Input/places to buy would be appreciated!

There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.

I was looking for the same thing as you, no remote start, 2 way, lcd, etc..

Check out the autopage line, they are very user friendly and high quality. I have been using the 2way- rf-520 for about 6 months now without any problems, installed it myself and it works perfect. Very good prices on ebay.

I've got nothing but good things to say about compustar.
Awesome range (I get excellent reception in my apartment building, even with my car in the 2nd underground level), pager works great, and in the 3 years I've had mine in my Z24 I've not had a single issue of any form. Viper 2-ways seem to be excellent as well.

Finding an alarm without remote start is getting tougher. With all the wires you have to hook up, you may as well get one that is equipped and have the remote start for air conditioning. My only experience is with DEI products and Viper is suppose to be the top of the line for aftermarket electronics. The security bypass units are far simpler to install than anything else we have tried.
