i have had a narrow band for awhile now, and attempted to install it first, and it was drawing to much of the signal. so now i am in the process of getting a new bung welded in the exhaust for a o2 sensor to run the gauge. 2 questions here. first, what is the recomended distance that i install the bung? and second, i know alot of the narrow bands do an impression of knightrider, now is this from the type of o2 seonsor, like is there one i can buy that wont do this? or is it just somthing that will happen?
for a wideband, usually in front of the CAT. if you're running a turbo a heat sink may be required to keep the sensor cool enough, they need to be around 800'F if i remember correctly. regular O2 sensor is usually in the header at the collector.
a narrow band sensor will simply be a light show.. the reason it didnt work on your gauge is probably because it is a millivolt ouput, in order to drive a gauge with that signal you probably need to amplify it and convert it to a 0-5 volt output.
to get a proper display of your air/fuel ratio a wideband is what you want. the gauge you have should work with the WB O2.
