hey all. i havn't posted in a while just sitting back and reading. but i have an issue now. my high beams wont work. i checked the fuses there fine, replaced the arm still not working. this is leadin me in the direction of it being the wirering? where do the wires run for the head lights? is it under the battery tray or windshild washer bottle? also what color are they? and is there any crimped connections or anything that could be corroded. oh and it is a 99 fire GT thanx all

I've lost my low beams on two separate occasions due to corrosion of the headlight wires under the battery. That would be a good place to start hunting.

The reservoir is prone to leaks, hell I just topped mine off yesterday and they stopped working already.

No seriously, there is a plug under the battery tray that runs behind the washer fluid res. unbolt the res, and unplug the harness and bulb sockets and pull the entire harness out, tear off the tape/loom and start looking for green rot/cuts and scuffs....cut out and splice it back together and check for continuity before you tape it back up and install. Try and get all the green rot/broken wiring all at once so you don't have to pull it back out.

When I pulled mine, I pulled the entire front clip off the car just to make things easier for me...good luck....

get a test light and check everything...start right where the bulb goes into the clip and work your way back towards the battery from there, work methodically.

most likely what Joey said though...he sounds right.

you probably need to go to your local store and pick up some headlight fluid. i would reccomend the elbow grease while you are at it.

you could also check through the steering colum for breaks. i know i once sheared the wiring before the firewall, but then again that was in a dodge?

I'll eventually take the time to put something here. I swear.

how come no one told me i need a left handed screw driver for this task. woudl make it alot easier lol. i remeber the one day at school we had a kid running class to class for an hour looking for spots for the spot welder haha classic. I used a test light. the middle is continual power and the right wire??? had power for the low. once the highs are enagged only the middle has power. thanx all. hafta wait till this snow starts to melt more and no more freezing rain to do this haha. good ol ontario
