Can anybody tell me if it would be a good idea to install speaker baffles behind my Polk components? I don't like that the speaker is just hanging out in the door unprotected..sndsgood told me a good way to gain a little more space..I crashed my other car..and havn't had time to play with the new one. I was running the polks on 30-40w with an Alpine MRV-T407.. Now I have a pioneer that pushes 60w per channel...should sound a little bit better..but that just makes me worry more about vibration and resonance. If anybody can offer suggestions they would be welcome.
Are you talking about foam baffles? If so those are worthless. I suggest you spend some money and deaden the doors.

Ok..So you wouldn't worry about the speaker being unprotected? I guess that answers my question about the sound. I've seen people put mounds of sound deadening in their doors. Money is one thing I def. don't have right now...lol. But I have never cheaped out on car audio and I probably won't this time. I have seen the speaker kits, and I have seen door kits. I'm a little confused as to where the speaker kit, which I believe is a sheet a foot sqare, would be located and how effective it would be. I know our doors are like tin cans..so it would probably be better to deaden the entire door.
I suggest the cascade door kit that parts express sells. Its a great kit for the money and includes everything you need to deaden both doors.
