Ok me and my friend were putting subs/amp in his Sunfire, we didn't connect the amp yet, we got the wiring through, remote turn on, ground, preouts but no postive. we ran into problems because the battery terminal snapped off (horrible day)!! and I got a new battery and hooked it up so he could go home. The amp never turned on and all we did was change out the battery. He called me after driving and told me his car will not turn off (motor runs), funny part is he takes out the key still runs, turns off headlights car shuts off. I told him to check the grounds again and disconnect everything from the amp. What is going on?
?? you sure its not the fan and you think its the motor? is he turning the car off or just pulling out the key? btw he shouldnt be able to do that.....any way there is no way changing the battery would cause this or adding an amp would cause this....theres gotta be something your leaving out....
he said the car runs and when he puts in the key it ticks (starter solenoid), I'm serious I'm not leaving anything out
does he have a remote starter installed, sounds like a remote start taking over the car as you turn it off, not normal but possible
no he doesnt have a remote starter, all he has in there is a stereo that works and the wiring for the subs that is partially hooked up... ground and turn on wire.
possible you guys F-ed up the wiring to the steering column and such when you were feeding the wires under the hood. did you do anything with something sharp?
1997 Cavalier Z24 - 16.3 in 1320 and falling...
he cut the gray rubber thing to feed through the power wire into the engine bay that was it.
found the problem the previous owner had a remote starter in there and he didn't know about it (no remotes) and he must have flicked it on and it caused this to happen.
