I know this probably sounds like a really strange request, but is there any way I can put an aftermarket stereo in concealed somewhere and still use the original deck? I have no problems with the original, and don't want to remove it and install an aftermarket one, however, I would like to be able to use my ipod in the car and I don't like the FM transmitter. I was thinking I'd just put an aftermarket deck I have lying around that has the necessary plugs in the back and put it in the centre console or in the glove box or something. Is this possible? I was thinking that I could just tap the wires from the new deck into the ones for the original, and just have a switch for the power. If this sounds absurd I'm sorry! I should add that I have a 1997 Sunfire. Thanks for any input. I assume I'll end up having to just replace the stereo, but if I don't have to, I don't want to!

there are some things you have to sacrifice to gee what you want. This is one of those things.
actually where i work we sell an fm transmitter that plugs into the antenna port on the back of your head unit and has a banna jack on the other end of it, makes fm transmittin almost as good as av inputs. i think it costs around 50 bucks and they sound amazing. much esaier than hooking up a second headunit.
Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just end up putting a new stereo in. Just gotta try and find one that fits in with the colours of the sunfire. Thanks again.

get a wired fm mod, hooks up through the antenna behind the radio....but your best bet is to just change it to an after market
