Jerked around on install price?

Got a deck that I want installed and went to get an estimate from one place, and they were saying 50 bucks plus materials, which I figured was a decent deal. But after letting them know it was a sunfire they said it was going to be close to 300 dollars. From what I've read so far I'm assuming they're basing that price off of relocating the stock deck to the trunk or using some sort of adapter. But from what I've been reading, it's more than possible to just take the old one out and put the new one in, with the only thing missing being your chimes for door, key, lights, and your onstar if you have it. This place was also trying to tell me that if I didn't either relocate or have some sort of adapter that the whole car was going to be running wrong. Which is a load of crap, correct?

I guess basically, just wondering if everyone's going to be trying to tell me the same thing, and what should be a decent price for an install?

its b/s.. just do it yourself. it's really easy. Just get the kit from a store or online and solder or crimp the wires together. The kit all together should cost like 30 bucks.

Yeah, after hearing what they said, even if it's a load of crap, I thought about trying it myself. But what kit would it be that I'd be looking for? Gonna check another place here that might be a little more realistic though.

It's the same harness, so he'd be SOL. You have no idea what you're talking about half the time do you?

Get yourself a Geo Tracker harness for a 2000, an add-a-circuit, and a small piece of light gauge wire. Check my sticky, it'll show you what to do. Dash kit you can get anywhere and the antenna adapter if your harness doesn't come with one.
