Rockford fosgate T112D2

Hey. Alright well I just got rid of my two 12" infinity 1230's... They were o.k as my beginner subs in my car but their rms was pretty low (300watts) and I want to upgrade.

So I'm looking at a single rockford fosgate T112D2. I wanted opinions though. As for the cost, this is basically my limit (in Canada this runs you about 400 bucks). And I wanted to go with a single 12 instead of a dual set up. I was also going to be making a bigger box (old pair of 12's were running in a rather small box from futureshop).

I was just looking for opinions on this sub, recommendations, etc... Also my old 12's were running off a 300 watt amp (this was their rms so I played it safe) and I am obviously going to be getting a much better amp in the near future which I am open to suggestions on.

Thanks a lot guys.

If you dont mind waiting until next month, i suggest the Mach 5 Audio IXL12.2.2. They are located in canada and you looking at about $200 shipped (or little less) when there avalible next month. If you dont realy wana wait my next suggest would be a CSS SD12 for $177 shipped.

I actually went back to the car audio place, as I said it was on sale for $299, but the guy said that he could do even better and knocked off another $100 because I've bought a decent bit of stuff from them. Truthfully I didn't think places could do this but it is a local place, not a franchize like futureshop or best buy but hey i'll take it!

Thanks a lot for your info though Sundown because my friends looking into a system so I'll pass that along to him.

I still have some questions though. Namely what sized box should I make. Trunk space is not an issue so I don't care how big or small it is along as it's right. I was recommended by the store to make a 2 cu/foot box, ported. But opinions on whether this is what I should go with or not are appreciated.

Also for Sundown or anyone else, I'm looking for an amp also to power my single 12 T1D4... again it is a D4 not a D2.

I was looking at this alpine amp... just came out, 1000 watts rms, $447 at that same shop but no more of a discount beyond that (lol i asked). Is there a better option for my money? 447 is on the high side for me but I really like the 1000 watt performance. Any suggestions again are appreciated.

Thanks.

if your talking about the Alpine MRP-M100 its 399 at best buy ( here in the u.s) and will be about 1000 watts rms @2 ohms which should be good for your T1...but im sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else....btw that is a good amp...

For that sub i would do a 2.25ft^3@ 34hz w/ 36in^2 of port. For an amp, im not sure what brands you local shop sells. If they have kicker i would go w/ a Kicker ZX750.1 or if you dont mind ordering off line, i would go with a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D.

alright thanks alot i'll look into those... i built my box today. I have to admit Sundown you know your stuff. I checked online at http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/scripts/rightnow.cfg/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=469&p_prod_lvl1=19&p_prod_lvl2=26&p_cat_lvl1=5&p_cat_lvl2=&p_search_text=469&p_search_type=2%3Af aqs.faq_id

that page. Its rockfords page for recommended enclosures for the t1... it was almost exactly what you recommended.

box volume: 3.12 cu foot gross
2.25 cu foot net
port: 3" x 13.75" x 25.74"
tuning: 40 hz (termpro)
actual in car: 37 hz

sealed up the box with silicone from the inside, used you a @!#$e load of screws to compensate for it being a stronger sub (my crappy infinity subs actually pulled the futureshop box apart) and it seems solid... haven't carpeted it yet, will eventually.

thanks for all the help. ill post pics tonight/tomorrow.
