ok went to ee near my home and was gonna buy a head unit right, right, any way the salsman aksed me what it was going ,you know to get my harness and dashkit after i told him i was getting that elsewhere, and i instantly saw a grin he says" for the 2003 cavalier you nedd ,blah blah blah witch came to about 150 dollars more" he also claimed that my radio was a data retaining device to witch my reply was simply yeah i keeps cd cds and my radio stations saved he said it keeps my odometer working and a million things other than what a normal radio does SO after my vent i pose this question i read the sticky on radios it says 2000+ im wanting to triple check thatgoes for 2003 ls sport coupe also (i kn ow ill lose my chimes )
this happens all the time, they just want more money. just get the 40$ one from scosche and you will be fine. gm2000+ and it is sold for 40 bucks at my local walmart. with this harness there is no need to add the extra wires connected to your battery. it works just like the 150$ units.
My eyes are still bleeding from the original post. Did you check any of the stickies up top?
Why are you so angry about this? Because a "shop" (who doesn't specialize in Jbodies) told you so? Just go out and buy what you need, from the information that us dedicated people have given to you, rather than getting angry when a
general shop has told you something different.
No need to flip out man.

Yea I know I just didnt like that fact that the guy wanted to argue with me about my car and wat it needed when i knew it wouldnt work but I WILL print this off so i can prove to him that i dont need it. That is if thats all right with you guys ? and thanks for the help
I'll tell you that first hand where I worked, we were aware that most of the newer GM vehicles that had the expensive harness's, had a cheaper counter part that would do the job fine. The thing is that 1, when we go to the company who makes the harness to check to see which one it lists, it would list the expensive ones. It doesnt cross check and see that a saturn harness would work or whatever. There were a few we knew here and there and would offer it to them if they wanted it. 2, we would never install a radio w/o using one of those, regardless if all you lost was chimes. We've had cases of customers coming back from the dealer bitching about something and the dealer stating because we used the cheap harness, we messed their car up.
