I'm about to show how little I know - since I don't even know what it's called - That snap-on cover on the dash that goes over the stereo and the guage cluster... you know... Anyway, the stereo in my '05 Cavi quit working so I went to pull it out and see what happened, but I can't even get the cover off. It'll let go at the bottom, but I can't get the top part to budge. Is it a snap-on like all my other (older) Cavi's? Is there a trick? Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm getting tired of singing to road noise...
by older cavy's u must mean a second gen or earlier (pre-95).
Anyway, it's called the bezel, or radio bezel, or dash bezel. And the reason you cant get the top to budge is because there's 3 screws along the top.
To get it out, you need to first pull off the top dash. I'm sure the instructions are posted somewhere here.
But basically, you need to pull off the top dash air vent cover, the two side dash covers, take out (7) I think screws behind those covers and in the glove box, then you can pull off the top dash, then you can remove the three screws along the top of the bezel (radio/cluster), and THEN you can pull the bezel off w/ the remaining push clips (also, you're going to have to wiggle it around the steering column).

There is two through a hole in the glove box as well. They go into the airbag cover. you wont get it off without getting those...
you'd think with all them bolts our dashes wouldn't rattle lol
You'd think..but again..gotta love gm's build quality
Wow. I'm already glad I decided to join this forum. You all saved me a cracked a bezel and didn't even flame me for not knowing what it was called. Good people here...

Mine dones't rattle, but then again I put them back together with all the screws. I see so many with screw missing I wonder how the car stays together at all.
