long story short, i had to change my HU from clarion to pioneer and now i have no bass whatsoever... the whole system sounds like complete garbage... what could be the problem... anyone?

the only mistake i can think of is a grounding wire. there's 2 of them on our harness, 1 for speakers and 1 for system, i connected the speaker one with the black one on pioneer's
could this be the problem??

the eq is not set up to your liking .....do you have a sub?? your bass boost was probably all the way up.....its probably your eq from the radio

no it's not that... when i turn up the volume the sound gets all distorted, i played with eq setting but it'd only make the sound worse. i am so pissed because i already got rid of 1 clarion broken deck and now this...

even my stock system produced more bass and better sound than this one

then put your stock system in....

ok update, i switched polarities on the rear speaker and now bass is back, but with a huge distortion at higher levels...

You've got a phase problem. I was going to ask you to check this, but it looks like you already have it figured out. Now the only thing to find is which speaker was backwards? Now the rears are in phase with each other, but are they in phase with your fronts? The only way to find out is to pull out your wiring harness and inspect it.

BTW, make your EQ flat and work from there.
