OkK I've got an older Alpine V12 500w amp in my car. Everything was working fine as of the beginning of April. Went to install my new CD player tonight (Alpine CDA 9886) and now the amp is getting no power at all. The amp's power wire is connected to the CD player via the remote wire. I've made sure that the sub setting in the CD player was set to on, and still nothing. We've checked the fuse, ground, power, and nothing at all was blown or not connected. We've done everything short of following the remote wire to see if it is cut. Also ran a wire from where the power wire on the amp is to the power source to the CD player...nada. You guys got any suggestions on what else I could check or is my amp fried? Got plans to redo the ground tomorrow just in case...but at the same time looking for more suggestions.
did u jump the remote and the power wires, if you do this and the amp still does not turn on, then it is a power wire, ground, or amp issue. if it does work, then it's the remote wire.
you could have to readjust the ground, i had to one time when i installed everything, it fired up fine on one ground, then when i changed something, it wouldn't work until i changed the ground. Still not sure why, but I didn't really care as long as it worked
Yeah, we did jump the power wire...I'll go back and recheck all the wires this afternoon and see what I find.
Well, after checking everything and seeing power to the amp come on and cut right back off, I decided to pull the fuse. The fuse was not blown, but for what ever reason it had come apart in the fuse holder. I replaced and amp powered on just fine.
Yeah sometimes fuses are just bad not blown but just bad.
