Something weird's going on with the '05 SF.
I got in the car last night and started it up, and when I put my foot on the brake, it would not let me shift out of park. I scratched my head and shut it off, then started it again and everything was ok.
When I got home, I turned it off, and pulled out the key, but the running lights and stereo stayed on. Obviously I couldn't leave it like that all night so I unhooked the battery for the night.
This morning I hooked it back up, and now the stereo won't turn on at all, and the instrument cluster does not work. The odometer shows, but the speedomenter, tac, temp, and gas gauges are all dead.
Any ideas? Hopefully something easy to fix? And cheap?
Check your battery terminals for starters. Get your battery and your alternator tested.
wow that sucks what about blown fuses? or a short?
electric shortage somewhere... that's a lot of fun to track down
I finally narrowed it down to my Scosche GM2000 wiring harness/door chimes module. As soon as I unplugged that thing, the guages came back to normal and the odometer showed the missing 16.3 miles I put on over the weekend. Weird.
good to know. i have a scosche gm2000 harness too. something to look forward to :-)
On the plus side of things, I sent a mildy nasty email to Scosche today, and got the following reply:
We apologize for the difficulties you’ve experienced with our product. Please feel free to forward your shipping address so we may expeditiously provide you with a replacement unit. The GM09SRB is an equivalent model however is sold through higher end dealers.
When connecting a Class 2 GM interface it is necessary to close all doors, turn off all lights and remove the keys from the ignition prior to connecting the interface into the vehicle. This prevents most issues experienced with these interfaces.
