lets say im getting some 400w 6x9's what amp would i need to power them and how much louder would it be than using the HU? i have a 200w HU 50x4
200 watt headunit. mote like 50 watts. that 50x4 is peak power which your not likely seeing for the most part. theres a reason a 200 watt amp is shaped like a shoe box. becauase you need the size and electronics to make the power. your not getting 200 watts out of an amp on the back of a headunit smaller then a pack of cigarettes. even if you went with a 200 watt amp it will become allot louder then what you have now. but i'd personally amp the front speakers and not the rear. get the sound up front, not in back.

i know im only getting 50 to each speaker thats why i said 50x4 dont the 6x9's give more bass than the fronts? thats why i was gonna do the rear. and how much would a simple 200w run me?
your really only getting 18 watts to each speaker that 50x4 is peak power, 18x4 is your rms power. put subwoofers in if you want more bass. rather than amping a fullrange speaker and pulling your soundstage to the rear

If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

well i plan on getting a subwoofer but im not trying to win a competition so what subwoofer should i get? why not the ones from walmart they have pioneers there that seem good but everyone says there crap.
if it works for your purposes then go for it but most people will tell you they are crap because they are the lowest grade pioneer products available

well i guess my purposes are to get my system a little more low end sound as it lacks tons of it and my speakers distort past 30 (max is 40)
i would recomend picking a sub for the size of enclosure you plan on using. if you want to keep most of your trunk space, and are going to run a small sealed box, you need a sub that will handle that little air space....if you are willing to give some, you can get a sub that uses more air space. Amping some "200w" 6x9's is not going to fill in your bottom end, just make the mid/high louder.
yeah im going sub route i guess will take a while to save up money for em though
should i also get amp for 6x9's and 4x6's?
4x6s generally cant take a lot of power, usually what the headunit puts out is what they are suited for. id just save up for a sub and amp.

stock 4x6's dont amp them. aftermarket go ahead. most stock speakers distort easily because of the poor signal from the headunit and then add in the fact that they are trying to play the bass frequencies as well. if you get an aftermarket amp for them with a built in crossover, you can cut the bass out of the 4x6's and 6x9's and you will be able to get them allot louder with a cleaner sound.
and what i said was yoru not getting 50 watts to each speaker, i was saying your lucky to get 50 watts total to each speaker.
