Very seriously considering buying this unit for my car. Wondering if anyone has had experience with it?

I have owned both the x100 and the x001 ( the first model ) and if you own an iPod, this deck is awesome for it. very easy to navigate, shows album art if your ipod supports it...

your best bet is to go to a retail store and play with one before you buy though, just to make sure you like it.

and the only downfall in my opinion is no cd player, but I was over that really fast...

I played with one today at best buy, but they didn't have an ipod hooked up to it. I went ahead and bought one off ebay (for less than $250 shipped I could't pass it up) I think I'll like it a lot. I never use the CD player anyways because the roads around me blow and with 18s and 2" lowered; it skips too much to play.

I had the earliest model that came out of the iDa and hated it. Yeah it was cool for iPods, but it couldn't do the things a normal Alpine deck can do. No CD player which sucked every now and then. The only tuning controls it had was sub, bass, and treble; no fine tuning options like all other Alpine decks have. So I traded it in, I hated that thing. It was cool and all, and this one might be different, but I didn't like it at all...

Ah yea, I forgot about the lack of tuning options...

I still loved mine though...

From what I understood, I can still use the iPersonalize system to fine-tune settings. I know you can dl backgrounds for the screen, so I assume you can use the audio tweaks as well.

edit: jk just read that it's backgrounds only. I might end up getting the IMPRINT system a bit later on.

I love the unit, its quick, with great sound quality. It doesn't have as many audio options as you'll find on some other units but there are a decent amount.
