mtx 6104 vs alpine type R 10"

I'm thinking of switching my subs up but not sure if it will make much diff or not. Right now I'm running and MTX 6500D mono amp, rated at 775 RMS @ 2 Ohm and 14.4 V, and 2 MTX 6104 10" subs rated at 250 RMS a piece. I was wondering if switching to the apline type R 10" rated at 500 RMS a piece will make much of a difference or not. The subs are in a sealed box right now, basically drop the rear seats and there is a wall with 2 subs facing into the cabin with the rest of the box behind. I know I should change my box and port it out but I'm really busy these days and don't want to mess with it just yet but will eventually. I just want to swap the subs. Will it make much difference?

Well, if you put 2 of the alpines in there, and pus your amp to its full capacity, then I would say yes. Only due to the added power going to the subs. If your subs are rated at 250 a piece, then you cant be pushing that amp to the fullest, but if it were me, I would exchange the subs and amp. I would go for a 1000 watt amp to push the 2 10's that way you would see a bigger increase. I currently have 2 10" mtx 8000's, with a 1000 watt amp on them, I also have the subs pointing into the cabin, and to say the least, sound quality could be better, but it thumps pretty good for 2 10's.

Ok well got the alpine type R's. Putting them in the sealed boxes but rebuilding thes boxes at a later time so that they are ported and built to the alpine recomendations for optimum spec. But we'll see what happens when I just swap the subs. Let you know what happens.
