when i bought the car it only came with one key, no keyfob or anything special. but when i punch in my vin number on my car insurance website it lists all that my car has totally correct except for the keyfob, theres a chance it didnt get turned in when the previous owner sold it i guess and is there anyway to tell if my car is equipped for it?
2004 ls sport w/L61
yes its equiped with it but you'llhave to have a dealer program it in.. they usually charge you an hour labor and thats all.. so about 70 bucks.. plus the key fob itself.. i had to have it done.. or you can just get yourself a nice security system and save yourself the troubles.. bestbuy is great at installations.. plus if the previous owner isnt trustworthy they have access to your car?

best buy good at installs? must be rare then.
yea but hes right though.. 2000-2005 cavs need to be programmed at the dealer with a tech 2. hourly rate at about 80hr and about 75-80for the fob at the dealer. best bet is to get one on ebay then take it to the dealer to save some money .
hmmm... never been charged for a key fob re-program..... don't get suckered in to pay 70-80 a hour... it takes them 2 minutes..... definitely pick one up off ebay...

dont know the guy(but the majority of cavaliers around here are driven by females) or female so i honestly cant say, but if he wants to try and drive off with a tore down engine i would love to see the look on his face when he pops the hood to see why it wont start.
thanks for all the help dudes
When the dealer does the keyfob relearn using their Tech 2 diagnostic tool, they'll remove the other keyfobs that are programmed to your car. No longer an issue...
If you just recently purchased the car and it was through a dealership have them provide you with the remote and programming at their cost. If the car came with it from the factory then you should be entitled to all the options that came with the car.
