i got my sound system somewhat tuned now and it's pretty loud and produces some bass now (not too much from the speakers though) but there's still something missing... the sound isn't really as crisp as it could've been. i spent a lot of time installing and tuning everything but i am still a little disappointed by the results... what really disappoints me are the 6.5 alpines i got in the front...they're only 3.5' short of a sub and have over 100 watts RMS in power but they don't perform upto their level especially bass wise... i guess i am not try sealing the doors and using some dynomat stuff , see if that helps, not much else i can do right?
Your door and deck speakers shouldn't be tuned for bass at all, assuming you're running subs, which unless your profile is wrong you are. What you need to do, either in your radio or on your amp for your door speakers, turn the high-pass filter (HPF) ON if it isnt already, that might help with the crispness. Another thing I like to do, is to either fade all the way to the front speakers, or fade to the front until you just barely hear the rear. And as far as your bass issue goes, if you want more get some different subs or a different amp. 6.5" speakers are NOT meant for bass, subs are, end of discussion on that issue. The whole point of upgrading to nicer door speakers is to get louder, clearer mids/highs so you don't just hear bass.
Agreed. 6.5's are NOT subs. If you try to make them sound like it, you will blow them, simple.
That said, Dynamat WILL help you get some more midbass from those speakers. If you are looking for sub sound, though, you need to get subs.
spitfire you're the man... i turned on the HPF and it helped tramandously, the sound is more crisp and much nicer to listen to now... thanks alot for the advice!
