will it sound better if i turn my subs towards my back seat or keep them towards the trunk. the sound is not a solid bumping it is a rattling. HELP
You've got something loose if its rattling...check your rear deck to see if its loose, your spoiler, trunk, license plate, and anything else you can think of.
Turn on the sub to bass tracks and get out of your car and listen (physically) closely to your car and see if you can find what it is, repeat in the back seat, too.
Face your sub towards the rear of the car.
i hear the rattle on the out side
Like I said, trunk, spoiler, license plate, maybe your bumper even. Stick your head next to the car, move around and try and find it.
most likely a license plate.. try to apply pressure to some areas and see if the rattles goes away any...
- Check the profile for all mod's. It's up2date!
check your heat shield under the car they rattle like a bitch.sounds hoard.

I disagree - not all trunk cars do best with subs/ports facing towards the trunklid.
All depends on the car, # of subs, install etc. For most baby installs that people on this site have, it's a good rule of thumb but there are exceptions.
For instance, in my Z24, my loudest score to date has been with my 9515 firing forward, ports firing to the drivers side. Smoothest/deepest response has been firing to the rear, but even moving the box forward or back brought noticeable changes. In my old T-bird, firing everything forward, as close to the back seat as possible, was deeper/louder than top/side/rear firing. By alot. Some guys here have had their best results (in both SQ and SPL) firing subs and port forward, sealed off from the rest of the trunk. Too many factors to make it a rule.

there is always the exception that makes the rule. but unless you have your passenger area completely sealed off from the trunk its a good rule of thumb
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

good thing you added that in there because that will give you the most bass(aimed foward into the interior and interior sealed from the trunk). not to mention when you saying facing it towards the trunk gives the best bass is a bit misleading. the best bass for rear facing needs to be with the subs pushed close to the rear trunk wall. not to mention the article didnt study facing the subs forward in the rearward most position in the trunk, effectively putting the subs on the back wall itself. nor did it get into box design which can take into account the cars size etc.

i found that if you can get to a junk yrd and get the fire retardent material for under the hood place the licence plate on it cut out to fit plate bolt behind plate and no more plate rattle cheaper than spending 15 bucks on a plate kit.
Theres a vent on the rightside of the trunk behind the carpet near the bottom. Big ole rattle sound til i sealed it. I sealed it and had no rattles with my Audiobahn tens. The twelves shook the right rear reflector a stripped srew on the right inner fender well the spoiler bolts were loose tighten them blew a seal or something on the bottom of the lid so its makes a squeaky noise. The 15 Type R shakes everything so its hard to tell
Mirror rattles like a mofo. It stops when it falls off hahaha.
How did you seal that vent on the right side of the trunk cause that is a huge rattle spot in the trunk?
I threw some dynamat over it. Some guys use everything tfrom duct tape to spray foam. Be creative.
